The famous Shanghai landmark, the Peace Hotel, is set to reopen as one of the city's priciest accommodation options in March 2010. Hirsch Bedner Associates has announced that their design has been accepted by Jinjiang Hotels, owner of other historical Shanghai hotels such as the Park Hotel and Jinjiang Hotel.
The Peace Hotel is one of the most famous hotels in Asia. The epicenter of Shanghai business tycoon Victor Sassoon's empire, it is the symbol of 1920s Shanghai.
The design calls for the hotel to be restored to all its former glory. The "Nine Nations Suites" are to be restored, the former penthouse home of Victor Sassoon will be transformed into the Presidential Suite, and the renowned Jazz Bar will return.
The hotel will be called the Fairmont Peace Hotel Shanghai, and will be managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts on behalf of Jinjiang Hotels. An average room price is expected to be $300-$400 per night. |
